Research Associate position open at our La Jolla Research Facility.

Mandala Biosciences LLC is a start-up biotechnology company that is developing innovative tools and technologies for the stem cell research community. We are seeking a highly motivated individuals to join our discovery research team at our La Jolla laboratory. Candidates ranging from BS through MS and PhD will be considered for research associate, research scientist and post-doctoral positions. Expertise in stem cell biology, reprogramming and antibody development will be given priority. The goal oriented research is being conducted in close collaboration with our colleagues at the Burnham Institute for Medical Research and BioTime, Inc. RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (Job Code MBLRES4):

  • Participate in discovery of novel genes associated with cell fate determination using innovative cDNA library construction and selection approaches and synthesis of recombinant antigens
  • Cell line maintenance, storage and expansion
  • Characterize antigen presenting cells by flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, Northern and Western blot, qPCR and other cell and molecular biology techniques
  • Analyse their own research data, interpret results, recognize inconsistencies and experimental outcomes, and troubleshoot procedures.
  • Maintain familiarity with literature related to the project.
  • Keep detailed laboratory records, prepare written and oral research reports

Requirements:

  • BS/MS Degree in molecular biology, cell biology, or related field, at least 1 year of laboratory experience.
  • Must be thoroughly experienced molecular cloning, cDNA library construction, gene expression analysis, and recombinant protein expression /purification, sequence characterization by homology searching
  • Experienced with mammalian cell culture, immunostaining, microscopy, western blotting, PCR, and quantitative PCR
  • Antibody development/phage display is a plus
  • Highly motivated, intellectually curious and a team player
  • The successful candidate will be well organized, have exceptional record keeping skills, able to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
